Emerging Technologies

I read about the light-field photography. Lytro made a new camera being sold at $399 and what it does for now is it let's you take photos and focus them AFTER you take the picture. For example if you're at a concert and there's a lot of movement and your shot comes out blurry, you could focus the frame after it's processed. It all has to do with how this camera captures light and reflects differently from other cameras. The company is also planning software updates that allow you to capture everything sharply regardless of distance which is hard to get on a conventional camera and another where it will capture 3-D images. I assume that technology will keep advancing as well as how much we use it and how efficient it can become. When it comes to surprises I haven't been very surprised I mean the new technology is interesting but I wouldn't say people couldn't predict it because things change everyday. Possibilities in the future in this area probably have to do with computers or some type of system that has to do with our lakes. I can't think of anything specific. The emerging technologies that site listed I didn't know were emerging at the time and right now. I don't think what's being used now is exactly like what's listed but I think we're using nano technology, software networking, and getting some type of internet access around the world or at least to new places.

Online A Reflection

Technology is important because it's a part of nearly everything nowadays. It's important to learn how to use it so you're not behind. Over the last 5 years technology has advanced a lot. We've gone from bulky and slow cell phones and computers to plasma screens and slim-touch-screen smart phones. In the next 5 years it'll probably still be advancing a lot, hovercrafts and all that. The technology I use for school work varies on what I'm doing. Usually I use Microsoft software and the internet for most things. At home however I play video games and use the computer. A lot of the tools I don't think I'll use because I didn't find a point to them. I'll probably keep using Gmail and widgets but the blog and delicious for example I won't use outside of class. A tool practical for lifelong learning...I don't really know. I guess just the internet itself. A tool I won't use is probably the avatar sites, the podcasting, and delicious (it didn't help me organize anything). My favorite to create was just anything with Microsoft because I think it's easiest to use. Least favorite was the things I listed as the tools I won't continue using outside of class.

Cyberbully: Movie Review

I didn't like the movie but I do agree there's a lot of truth to it. Similarities in the movie to what we talked about in class are, Taylor became depressed and it affected others. She also tried to commit suicide and that happens all the time because of bullying/cyberbullying. She also found a support group for it. Now in the real world not many people choose to go to those but people still do. Another difference is she reported it to the newspaper and the school and the senator and stood up to the bully. In real life most people just blow it off after the situation ends and don't stick up for anything or even say about it. Suffer in silence. Also, she became friends with Samantha again and most people would keep hating the person who hurt them. I don't remember much cases we discussed in class but it is similar to other ones. Like the Taylor Meir one that they mentioned at the end.
